Unit 8 Blog

Hello everyone,
The two practices are: the subtle mind and meeting Aseclepius
My choices for the most beneficial exercises would be subtle mind and Meeting Aseclepius. I found the Subtle is a good exercise because of its calming effect. The use of your breath as a tether makes the transition from a physical reality to a mental, and then a spiritual experience. I used the word tether because it helps to keep me along a path, and bring me back if a start to drift away, which brings my attention away from my focal point. Example: when I get over inundated at work I’ll sit back and start breathing for focus. At first I’ll start with the breath and then start focusing on a purple light, I’ll continue to breath and my mind will start to wander, losing sight of the purple light. I can focus on my breathing to bring me back online. Using what was learned in meeting Aseclepius, is used when I’m in need of guidance. When I’m out on trail I will climb out on a rock and just breath and seek out my guide. I ask for help in making me whole, I ask for assistance in my life, and how to assist other in their life. These are strong coping mechanism to get me through a 12-16 hour workday with a constant flow of immediate attention based issues. They give me a chance to check in, regroup, center, ground and revitalize.   Kevin W.

HW420 Unit 7 Blog Meet Asciepius

Hello Professor and class,
Unit 7 assignment  Meeting Asiepius was a welcomed exercise to re-synchronize my Heart, Mind and Spirit with my spirit guide, of the ancestors. and along with the time spent the knowledge of what I had learned too returned. I have been walking alone; not paying attention to the affect the world is having on me. The gradual changes sneak on you and when you finally take step back and look at yourself, you are a different person. Opening the mind and connecting the heart and speech has allowed me not to take things on a personal level; yet, be personable in my approach to others. I am able to approach occurrences from a bystander’s point of view, which helps me to better understand the emotion that I had experienced, and return with loving -kindness. With the stress that is on many of us why be the straw that breaks the camels back..Instead of contributing to the stress... help to lighten the load.

 " O n e   c a n n o t   l e a d   a n o t h e r   w h e r e   o n e   h a s   n o t   g o n e   h i m s e l fˇ˝
This saying falls into the category of “you talk the talk, but can you walk the walk?”. A person that has taken the journey is better equipped to lead another through the same journey or a journey along the same path.  I believe if one is going to put himself or herself in a position to help guide a patient or client they should be well acquainted with the process and paths to teach. Working out in a gym I see personal trainers that you not believe would know anything about health, granted they my be on a life change and this is their way of getting in shape, but the consciences is ...What can they do for me if they are unable to take care of themselves? I believe this would fall under the same category.
Having a healthy balance psychologically, physically and spiritually would be of the best benefit for both. The best way I can see is by taking the practices that we have be doing to start to live the transformation and take further by seeking out a mentor or guide to fully understand integral health.

Unit 6 Blog

Kevin Whitfield HW420-Unit 6 Blog
Greetings,
The practice put in to perspective my involvement in a holistic scheme. The words are words of unity with the people around us, a pray to help facilitate self-help and the power to assist.  As the number of times of repeating the mantra increased so did the energy within, things became clearer, how to work with clients knowing what my intentions are and not take over what the client needs from the process (aside from the intention to assist).

I discovered that I am out of control in the sense that I am caught up in situations that are, in my mind, taking from other aspects in my life.  I am in need of focus in the Biological aspect. This has always been the key to my spiritual and mental balance.  Exercise helps me open the mental gateway, and being around animals and nature helps to open the gateway for spiritual awareness. These things have been missing in my life; I have allowed work to take the place of many things. Some of my clients have benefited to from the experiences with nature, and see a difference when I have witness the changing of a heart when a person spends time with the horses.  I have a lot to go to improve or make changes, and hopefully things will slow down so I can take a breath, or better yet I’ll see that they are not moving as fast as I think, and just make the necessary adjustments.
